I first used Linspire after getting it on the Xmas giveaway and have been using it ever since (almost 2 months now). I am a big distro hopper and primarily used the laptop that I put Linspire on to do so. I have not put another distro on my Dell since. The other day I bought a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad X131e and tried various distros that I thought would work on it including Linspire. Linspire won out so instead of just putting the giveaway on, I decided to purchase the non support download. I could have used freespire but I like supporting which ever distro I am using. I am liking what I see and what they are doing to update the look of the distro. XFCE can look very 1998 and a lot of XFCE distros look outdated. Linspire is one of the best looking that I have used. The included software cut back on what I had to download myself. Keep up the great work Linspire team!

Exactly my feelings, Linspire was my true introduction to Linux and its certainly staying this Lenovo ideapad S100 because battery use is better than windows and i'm not being hassled to run anti-virus software that hogs the CPU or malware software... Windows means computer maintenance, Linspire means computer use.

How does the latest and greatest compare to Lindows? Sorry for asking about a long gone version that I have never tried but I have also been a "distro hopper" trying to find an alternative to Windoze but the CLI sent me running away at 90 miles per hour with my hair on fire! Also another reason for once again venturing into Linux is my hardware is a bit old to older and other than Windoze 7 leaving a bad taste, I'm not impressed with Windoze 10 as well. Also to make my transition a bit smoother, looking and behaving a bit like XP and I have even given Linux XP Desktop 2006 a go around as well!

The new Linspire is much more resource friendly and works well on older hardware as well as newer hardware. Many of the functions you used to have to resort to the command line now have a GUI component so you dont have to see the command line if you dont want to. Lindows and Linspire Inc. made it their business model to require you to subscribe every year for CNR and to use the distribution. With us your 12 month subscription fee is for support and if you buy it one time and decide that you dont want the support you are free to use it for as long as you want. We use a modified version of the XFCE desktop, although we have been experimenting with KDE. We produce Linspire in two flavors for general desktop use, Linspire, which is a general traditional desktop system which utilizes traditional apps and Linspire CE (Cloud Edition) which makes use of cloud based applications, and traditional based apps as well. That is a great Plasma desktop. But I do like the XFCE desktop more. Its just more complete and works better on my Core Duo
