Today we released the first from Project Mercury. What is Project Mercury? It is an experimental build that we have made to cater to our users and customers who utilize low end hardware such as old Apple intel machines, point of sale systems and older computers that may not be able to run our customized GNOME desktop. We have gotten this build to work on systems with as little as 2gb of RAM.
While Project Mercury is NOT going to replace our other OS's in terms of user interface or features it can be utilized on newer systems as well. Features will change, installed software will change and more than likely this will move to the Xandros brand we encourage everyone to test this in a VM or on a spare system you have hanging around.
WE DO NOT ENCOURAGE USING THIS SOFTWARE IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT YET. It may not work on your system, you will experience crashes probably but if you need a fully stable and well tested distro we recommend Freespire, Linspire and Xandros. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DATA LOSS.
